Why Consider Synthetic Slate/Cedar Shake Roofing?

Looking for a modern twist on a classic roofing material? Synthetic Slate/Shake Roofing is surprising homeowners again and again. With the traditional look and feel of natural slate or cedar roofing, synthetic slate/shake roofing is stronger, easier to maintain, and enhances your home’s curb appeal.

If you’re looking to refine your home’s appearance and protect your investment, we highly recommend Synthetic Slate/Shake Roofing for your home.

With the look and feel of traditional wood shake roofing, these synthetic cedar shake alternatives are fire-resistant, don’t break or flex as much as wood, and are impact resistant.

The synthetic slate alternative won’t crack or break like traditional slate material.

Synthetic slate/shake roofing offers several advantages over natural slate or wood shakes, including enhanced durability, weather resistance, and lower maintenance.

They are resistant to moisture, rot, decay, and insects.

Synthetic Slate/Shake roofing have a high resistance to fire, enhancing safety and peace of mind.

They can withstand harsh weather conditions like high winds, large hail, heavy rain, and intense sunlight.

They also offer a longer lifespan than traditional wood shakes, asphalt, or cheaper roofing options, and are a more cost-effective solution in the long run.

Synthetic Slate/Shake roofing closely mimics the look and texture or their traditional counterparts and are available in various styles and colors, allowing for a much wider array of customization to meet your overall vision.

They really create a beautiful looking roof.

They are generally lighter in weight than traditional wood shake, natural slate, or clay tiles, which can be beneficial for homes not originally designed to support heavier roofing materials.

They require minimal maintenance, unlike natural wood shakes that need regular staining, sealing, and treatment for pests and decay.

While the initial cost may be higher than some other roofing materials, the long-term cost can be lower due to reduced maintenance and longer lifespan.

Manufacturers have developed these synthetic counterparts with technology that’s more durable, consistent, and beautiful. This allows homeowners to get the best in terms of both look and functionality.

Homeowners are choosing Synthetic Slate/Cedar Shake Roofing for so many reasons.

At Phoenix Restoration, we have years of experience installing and maintaining synthetic slate/shake roofing and we’ve hand-selected the best manufacturers of these products. Our goal is to provide you with beautiful and functional roof that will last for years.

Why Consider Metal Roofing for Your Home or Business?

A lot is expected of your roof. While roofing materials are getting stronger as technology advances, metal roofing continues to be one of the most durable, long-lasting, and energy-efficient roofing systems.

While the upfront costs can be substantially higher (than asphalt shingle roofing), metal roofs can withstand high winds, fierce hailstorms, and so much more.

Plus, because they last for decades (literally), the upfront cost and added durability can save you: years of costly repairs, time-consuming insurance claims, and the risk of leaks or damages associated with other types of roofing.

Metal roofs are low-maintenance and extremely long-lasting, the range of metal roofing choices we offer can completely transform the look of your property.

Suitable for both residential and commercial properties, metal roofs are well known for their durability and if fitted correctly, can last up to seventy years, usually with minimal maintenance.

Phoenix has extensive experience in fitting metal roofs of all shapes and sizes, each of which has its own set of characteristics.

We offer state of the art installation options which provide peak energy efficiency. The benefits of which have been repeatedly shown to outweigh the costs over time.

Metal roofing is available in a wide array of colors and shades. You can even do a custom color if your roof meets minimum manufacturer order requirements. You could have the most unique roof for 300 miles.

Metal roofing is a top choice in going “green” or environmentally friendly. Metal roofing is one of the easiest materials to recycle when its useful lifespan is over, granted recycling it will most likely be the problem of your adult great-grandchildren.

Metal roofing has a Class A fire rating, the highest rating a roofing material can have.

Metal roofing has a Class 4 impact rating, also the highest rating a roofing material can have.

Considering EPDM / TPO for Your Home or Business?

EPDM and TPO are two types of single-ply membranes that that can be applied to the roof of your building.

What’s the difference between these two single-membrane roofing options?

EPDM membranes are made of synthetic rubber, which allow for increased flexibility. EPDM systems absorb heat from the sun.

TPO membranes are made of a layer of synthetics and reinforced scrim. TPO systems reflect the sun’s heat.

Phoenix Restoration offers both options to those who have facilities or homes with flat roofs.

EPDM, Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, is an extremely durable synthetic rubber roofing. TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) is a blend of polypropylene and ethylene propylene rubber, reinforced with a polyester fabric.

Both membranes are widely used on low-slope buildings in the United States and worldwide.

EPDM is available in both black (primarily) and white, TPO is (primarily) available in white but can be special ordered in a wide array of colors. Both are sold in a broad variety of widths.

TPO/EPDM can be installed either fully adhered, mechanically attached or ballasted, with the seams of the roofing system sealed with liquid adhesives, specially formulated tape, or in the case of TPO, heat welded.

What is an EPDM roofing system?

There are two major elements present in the manufacturing of an EPDM roofing membrane: ethylene and propylene. Both these elements are available from natural gas and oil. This unique combination makes an exceptionally resilient synthetic rubber that is primarily used for roofing membranes. It is capable of protecting any building for several years.

Some features of an TPO/EPDM roofing system include:

The cyclical nature of the membrane offers fatigue resistance.

The material is hail resistant.

It offers high-end resistance to ozone, abrasion, and weathering.

TPO/EPDM offer low-temperature flexibility and resistance to ultraviolet radiation.

TPO/EPDM has high durability against thermal shock.

It has excellent resistance against extreme heat and intense sunlight (EPDM)

Chemical and fungal resistant (TPO)

TPO/EPDM is puncture resistant (EPDM does better in puncture testing)

Of the two different varieties of flat (TPO and EPDM) roofing membranes. One is primarily white, and the other one is primarily black. Which membrane is more beneficial depends on a balance of location vs the type businesses the building contains, or our customers overall functional goals.

A White TPO roofing membrane is manufactured with a reflective surface which is uniquely designed to reduce the amount of energy consumption from the sun and other sources to reduce your energy bill. White membranes contain titanium dioxide that reflects UV rays instead of turning them into heat. White TPO roofing can potentially keep your property cooler and reduce costs of air-conditioning in warmer climates.

A Black EPDM roofing membrane is manufactured to convert UV rays into heat. UV rays can degrade polymers over time, but carbon black helps convert UV radiation into heat, which is then dissipated. Black EPDM membranes are manufactured with carbon black as a key ingredient. Carbon black acts as a reinforcing agent, making the material stronger and less prone to cracking or breaking. The retention of heat can potentially lower heating costs.

These are more common in cooler climates.

Benefits of TPO/EPDM Roofing:

Climate: TPO/EPDM roofing helps in reducing heating/cooling costs. TPO/EPDM systems offer high-level energy performance, and because of their increase in underlying insulation, commercial businesses can achieve higher R-values. (Tapered insulation is used to create a drainage pitch to the roof to shed water.)

Repair and Maintenance: TPO/EPDM Membranes are capable of resisting UV rays, freezing temperatures, hail, and rain. The life of the roof can be enhanced with regular periodic inspection and maintenance. Simple repairs to a TPO/EPDM roofing membrane can extend the life of the membrane for several years.

Longevity of Roof: TPO/EPDM roofing offers an average roof life ranging from 20 to 30 years.
