Overturning denied claims

The extreme weather is known to cause damage to the most important parts of any residential or commercial building, the exterior. Storm damage from an unpredictable storm can cause devastation to the interior of your property, creating long term and sometimes serious health and safety issues. With a storm-damaged roof, you need your insurance company to act fast and give you the coverage you deserve.

At Phoenix Restoration, we know how overwhelming it can be to file an insurance claim only to deal with an unreasonable and unresponsive insurance company. Instead of being dragged through the wringer or raked over the coals by your agency, turn to a roofing company with the knowledge and experience to help.

Why does insurance deny a claim if it’s damaged? Your guess is as good as ours. Maybe.

In a storm environment insurance companies and insurance adjusters get slammed with a high volume of work all at once. They may have 8-10 properties they have to inspect during a single day, for weeks on end. The paperwork that follows all those appointments probably takes twice as long. We can empathize with them in that regard; there’s tons of back-office work on every job that no one sees. I can’t imagine if it were all on the shoulders of just one person.

It could be easy to see how an adjuster could be overwhelmed and miss things, or to have fatigue lead them to make poor professional decisions.

Some maybe just want to get it off their desk.

For a fact, some adjusters are just poorly trained. This is the most positive, benefit of the doubt take we can have on the reasons for an invalid denial.

Having a large body of experience with all the major insurance companies and a fair amount with many of the smaller companies, we’ve painstakingly learned which companies are more likely to deny a valid property storm claim. They exist. One or two are infamous for it. Obviously, they don’t deny every claim, probably just enough to avoid major scrutiny.

Usually, they try to just pay for a portion of the damages and hope you go away. Experience has shown us that this happens more often than a flat-out denial.

There’s also the more sinister take on it.

We each select an insurance company to pay every month in case our investment gets damaged. The way it’s set up; that company has the sole discretion to decide if what they insure is in fact damaged, if they owe compensation for it, and how much they have to pay. What a deal. It’s easy to see how just a little greed could start to skew the way an insurance company does business.

We live in a world that’s concerned about answering to the shareholders. Large companies are of course motivated by profit loss and quarterly gains.

These are companies so big and so powerful that they think they can just say no, with little repercussions.

This is of course all speculation, maybe it’s even wild speculation. The only thing we know is some claims that have been denied have later been overturned and approved.

It could be a slight combination of all of those things, or it could be none of them. Your guess is as good as ours.

Maybe their honest, heart of hearts, opinion is that it’s not damaged and they don’t owe for it. In any case, we know that’s the answer they’re going with, but fortunately it doesn’t always hold up to scrutiny.

At the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter which way it is, only that you believe that you didn’t get compensated where you ought to have been.

Don’t worry it may not be the end of road.

Phoenix is here for you

Get help with your damaged roof’s insurance claim. Getting the money, you deserve for your roof doesn’t have to be hard or stressful. Phoenix is here to help.

If the insurance assessment were always 100% correct we would never have a single claim overturned, or scope of damages expanded.

Over the years, we’ve helped countless policy holders overturn millions of dollars in unjustly denied insurance claims.

What we need from you:

If your claim has been denied or you only have a partial approval and believe that they should have covered more than they did:

1. Fill out our form in the link below

2. Email us a copy (photos or pdf) of the scope of work (if they sent one)

3. Email us a copy of the letter of denial (if you have one)

4. Email us any relevant correspondence with the adjuster or insurance company

5. Email us any photos you have (if any) of what’s considered the damaged area

6. The date of loss, your claim number, the insurance company’s name, and your insurance agent’s contract info (if you have one)

Overturning a claim can sometimes be a long process. After we’ve received any/all of the available items mentioned above, we’ll schedule a time with you to come out and reinspect the property to see if we agree with the insurance adjuster’s assessment, and if not, we’ll create a plan to reverse their decision.
